Mac Repair

Apple makes some of the most beautifully designed computers on the market, with performance and efficiency that can’t be beat – at a price.

Unfortunately, Apple’s high pricing extends to their repairs, so if something has gone wrong, you might be in for a steep bill (and potentially a loss of data) if using the Apple Store’s Genius Bar to get your Mac fixed.

We offer fast turnaround times and solid repairs, and we can both repair hardware and software issues. We work with a local third party (Triangle Board Repair) for some types of repairs, and others we can do in-house. There’s certain things we’d even recommend going to Apple directly for.

Some of the most common issues we regularly solve include…

Diagnostics
Regardless of the issue, we or our partners at Triangle Board Repair can usually diagnose and recommend a course of action.

Data Recovery
If your main objective is recovering your files or moving them to a new device, we or our partners can usually help you achieve this – whether it’s reading directly off an older Mac’s hard disk or SSD, or getting a newer MacBook working just well enough to run a backup!

Liquid Spills
Accidents happen, and it can only take a single drop of water to kill the sensitive electronics in your Mac. Our partners at Triangle Board Repair are experts at removing logic boards, cleaning off intrusive fluids, and replacing corroded or shorted components. If parts like keyboards, touchpads, or screens need replacement, we can help there too. While Apple’s response to a liquid spill is an instant logic board replacement, we can often save your computer at much less cost with cleaning and repair!

Keyboard/Touchpad Issues or Replacements
If your keyboard or touchpad are acting up, they can usually be replaced, though it can be somewhat expensive to do.

Battery Replacements
For 2016-2020 MacBook products (up to and including the 13″ M1 Pro and 13″ M1 Air), we currently recommend visiting an Apple Store for battery replacements due to safety concerns. For 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro models from 2021 and onward, we can replace batteries in-house.

Screen Replacements
Broken screen? It happens! MacBook display assembly replacements are quite costly, but we can replace them on several models (2016-2021 13″ MacBook Pro; 2019-2020 13″ MacBook Air), usually within 24-48 hours. We currently are declining to replace the displays on 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro models (2021 and later) and 13″ and 15″ MacBook Air models (2021 and later). These require a calibration that is best handled by Apple directly. We may offer replacements for these in the future, but we consider them “too risky” as of 2024 (also, last we heard, Apple can replace them cheaper than we can!)

Speaker Replacements
Fuzzed-out/blown speakers? We can usually replace these!

OS Reinstalls
If you need your computer reset for resale/trade, boogered the recovery process, or just want to start over fresh, we can help!

USB-C Port Replacements
USB-C is great for versatility, but the ports can wear out (or get damaged), and since they carry charging voltages, they can fail spectacularly. We and our partners can usually replace most varieties of USB-C ports in Mac products.

MagSafe Port Replacements
Battery not charging? We can almost certainly get your MagSafe port replaced.

Virus/Malware/Adware Removal
Macs get viruses and malware too, and surprisingly often. We can give your Mac a checkup and remove malicious software to get things back to normal.

Hard Drive Replacements
Some iMacs still used mechanical hard disks straight into 2019 – and they can get VERY slow (and fail). We can replace these with solid state disks to maximize your older iMacs performance!
